There’s so much to see, eat, hear, do and discover at the Annual Lowell Folk Festival from Friday night, July 29th through Sunday afternoon July 30th! The 35th Lowell Folk Festival features four stages of traditional ethnic music, authentic crafts demonstrations, ethnic foods, art and children’s activities. It’s the biggest weekend of the year in Lowell with music, food, crafts, fun and ethnic celebrations for all.
The Lowell Folk Festival’s goal is to present the finest traditional performers from around the world. Among the first acts announced this year are:
Cherish The Ladies – Irish
Dale Ann Bradley – Bluegrass
Diunna Greenleef & Blue Mercy – Blues
Los Plenaros de la 21 – Bomba & Plena
Nava Persian Trio – Persian Santour
Pedro Giraudo Tango Ensemble – Argentine Tango
Additional acts in many other genres to be announced.
Watch for street parades, street performers, as well as authentic Crafts Demonstrations and Foodways cooking demonstrations at Lucy Larcom Park. The Kids Area loaded with games and kids crafts on Shattuck Street, Destination Lowell lines Merrimack Street. Art In The Courtyard at the Market Mills Courtyard. Vintage streetcar rides and National Park tours. Among the biggest attractions are the many ethnic organizations who present authentic traditional ethnic foods for sale at various locations.
Admission is free but donations are always welcome.
Presented by the Lowell Festival Foundation, Lowell National Historical Park, City of Lowell, the National Council for the Traditional Arts, the Greater Merrimack Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce.
