What is it about live music? Is it the stories artists tell between songs? Hearing your favorite album cut in a whole new way? Or stepping into a crowd of strangers and realizing you're all there because the music on stage has meant something to each of you—or maybe because someone you love insisted you come along.

A million magical moments happen at every concert. And one thing we know for sure: seeing a show at the Lowell Summer Music Series is one of the best ways to experience them.

We were especially excited when one of our recent Riverfest headliners, Ripe, joined this summer's lineup on August 9. If you haven't seen them before, here's what you need to know: you won't be standing still. Their infectious grooves have a way of making the outside world disappear for a couple of blissful hours.

When you arrive, you'll be welcomed by friendly staff and volunteers—many of whom have spent decades making every summer weekend in Lowell a memorable one. Then comes our favorite moment: the sun begins to set, the lights come up across the park, you take a deep breath, look around, and realize this is a pretty wonderful place to be.

We hope you'll join the party this weekend. As our friends in Ripe put it:

"If it's never been done before, it might be kinda frightening. But waiting for things to get better feels a lot like settling."

That's a philosophy we can get behind.

92.5 The River has been broadcasting since 1995 with the belief that music—and the people who love it—are at their best when they're not confined by labels. We blend today's emerging artists with favorites from the '80s, '90s, and beyond, while championing new discoveries and deep album cuts you won't hear just anywhere. Because finding your next favorite song is one of life's simple joys, and we love sharing that experience with our listeners.
